THINGS TO DO ...
The beauty of Abruzzo is highlighted within the proximity of the mountain to the sea. Within 45 minutes you can stand tall at 2000 meters above sea level (Mount Majella) and down to sea level for a walk on the beach of Pescara, coined “mini Miami”. In between the mountain and Adriatic coast sit hundreds of unique Medieval towns, farms and hillsides. Abruzzo International Airport is 38 kilometers from 1949 and Pescara Train Station 45 kilometers away. 1949 offers a car service, with the option of pick-up from Abruzzo International Airport or Pescara Train/Bus Station. Depending on the duration of your stay, sight-seeing packages for activities outside of the 1949 property can be arranged i.e., day trip to Pescara city centre or dinner at Abruzzo’s famous Trabocco (restaurant on the water). 1949 is located in the area of “Crognaleto” in the town of Guardiagrele, Chieti. It is remotely situated on the Santoleri winery and is an ideal spot for outdoor lovers who enjoy walks, runs and relaxing under the Abruzzo sun. If you are wine lover and foodie 1949 offers that much more. You will have access to the winemaker, vineyards, cantina and a premium Abruzzese restaurant with a twist conveniently located below your suite. Below, please find links to organized activities provided by private companies in the region of Abruzzo. Your hosts at 1949 are Abruzzo tour veterans who run customized, gastronomical tours with visiting Canadian travellers in the summer; Luca and Sharifa would be happy to prearrange activities/tours for your stay.
Like Tuscany and Emilia Romagna Abruzzo has an avid cycling community in fact, Giro d’Italia makes Abruzzo a frequent stop on its route. Abruzzo is ideal for cyclists who love a challenge, the terrain of hillsides and mountains can be difficult but there is always a bar close by for refuelling. For cyclist who prefer flatter plains, the centre of Pescara has a dedicated bike lane which extends along the Adriatic Coastline.
